When
the object that is produced, the photographic image has the ability to
make tears come to your eyes; to inspire you to the point where you have
to catch your breath, then nothing else matters. |

Hello, my name is Lawrence. And I am a photo nut. Photography has always been an interest of mine, but in recent history, this interest has turned into a true passion. I picked up the bug my senior year at UC Berkeley, where I attended college. Over the years I have worked dilligently to learn the art, and I truly thank all that have helped me along the way by giving me advice or offering to be my photographic subject. I would not be where I am without all of you! While I am passionate about photography, my heart is absolutely devoted to the pursuit of a medical degree. Nothing will bring me more satisfaction and joy than healing others - becoming a doctor is the greatest gift and responsibility anybody can give me. Unfortunately, last year was a difficult one, and a harsh reality check, as I was not admitted to medical school. I understand my prior mistakes I have made in my life; I have taken a strenuous, roundabout path which produced lackluster results uncharacteristic of my abilities. However, now I am certain where my heart lies and I am more determined than ever... Fortunately, all the hard work paid off. Starting in Fall 2007, I will be attending the Tulane University School of Medicine! Expect to see a lot of pictures from New Orleans! :) Wish me luck!

Visual images are the universal unspoken language, understandable to all who view them regardless of language barriers or cultural boundaries. However, photographs are far more than mere visual stimulation – they are unfiltered emotions frozen in time. From the start of my burgeoning photography career, I have discovered a simple revelation: great pictures are real moments, un-staged, un-posed, and rich with sincere emotions. The comforting security of a mother's embrace confesses her undying love for her baby. A child-like giddiness can easily be seen in the eyes of two newlyweds during their very first dance. The body language and natural embrace of two lovers effortlessly show their deep, genuine devotion towards each other. When true, heartfelt emotions are shared between people, I need not pose the subjects - I simply stand back and capture the moment. As my fanaticism for photography has grown, I began to realize the true place of a photographer is not to simply create documents for people to see. My images are meant to immerse the viewer into another world, to intrigue minds and move hearts. In order to be successful photographer in my eyes, the audience must not simply see my photographs – they must truly feel them. |
